Theater Group Gathering Donations for Food Bank

The Ghost Light Players will gather canned goods to be donated to the Marlborough Food Bank during a free Shakespeare performance .

Ghost Light Players of Metrowest is once again giving back to the community this summer. The theater troupe is performing Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing free to the public.

Show dates are over two weekends, Friday and Saturday, June 21 and 22 at 8pm, Sunday, June 23 at 2pm, and Saturday, June 29 at 8pm and Sunday, June 30 at 2pm. Performances will be held at the First Church of Marlborough Congregational, 37 High Street in Marlborough. Shakespeare’s beloved comedy explores the deceptions and conflict that surround romantic relationships.

Set in 1919 New Orleans, just at the end of World War I, director Kat Alix-Gaudreau’s vision encompasses the mystery and romance of the Crescent City just as the 20’s are starting to roar. There’s jazz music in the streets, love in the air, and Cupid wears a Mardi Gras mask in this delightful comedy.

Assistant Director Justin Gray talks about his directing debut with the troupe, “What I love about Ghost Light Players is their no-holds-barred approach to Shakespeare. They analyze it down to the elementary level and find the true beating heart at the core of his work.”

In lieu of admission, the Ghost Light Players are collecting food items for the Marlborough Food Pantry. Last year, the group collected over 400 pounds of donated food from their Shakespeare patrons. Ghost Light Players of Metrowest is a newly formed theater group, operating out of Marlborough, Massachusetts. We are a small, intrepid group of actors, musicians, directors and stage crew who love theater in all its variety.
