SOUND OFF: What Constitutes 'Generous?'

A study this week showed the giving habits of taxpayers in the city. How much and what do you think is reasonable to give to charity?

The Chronicle of Philanthropy's, "How America Gives," study, released this week, compared the giving habits of taxpayers across regions and tax brackets.

Other findings of the study? 

Utah is the most generous state, while New Hampshire is the stingiest. Providence, RI, is rock bottom.

Rich people who live in wealthy, relatively homogeneous enclaves (think, Newton) give a smaller share of their incomes to charity than rich people who live in diverse communities (Cambridge).

People who live in politically conservative, "red states" are more generous than those in liberal or "blue states."
