Severe Thunderstorms Possible Late Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued an advisory that strong storms are possible late in the day.

The National Weather Service in Boston has issued an advisory warning that conditions will be favorable late Tuesday for strong and possibly severe thunderstorms in Marlborough and across southern New England.

The NWS said the best chance for strong storms will come after 5 p.m. Tuesday, but more likely after 8 p.m. 

The eastern slope of the Berkshires and the Connecticut River valley are said to be most at-risk for severe weather, but storms will spread east during the evening and overnight hours, the NWS said.

Severe thunderstorms are capable of producing large hail, damaging winds and can spawn isolated tornadoes, the weather service noted.
