Daytime Burglaries Hit Marlborough

A rash of midday break-ins has prompted police to ask for extra vigilance.

Marlborough police are asking for watchful eyes following recent house break-ins in the West Hill and Berlin Road area of Marlborough.

"We are asking the public to be vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious activity or persons that are observed in your neighborhoods," wrote Police Chief Mark Leonard in a press release issued Tuesday.

Three break-ins have happened in the West Hill and Berlin Road area with one happening in the central part of the city. Surrounding towns have been experiencing a rash of midday house breaks in recent months, said Chief Leonard in the release. At least two of the recent house breaks in the west end of Marlborough also occurred midday.

"We do not know at this point if there is any connection between these house breaks, but we are asking for the public’s help in reporting any suspicious vehicles or persons in any residential areas at any time of the day, but particularly during the midday hours," writes the chief.

Residents are being asked to call the Marlborough Police Department immediately at 508-485-1212, or dial 911 if it is an emergency situation if they see anything in their neighborhood that causes concern or suspicion.
