5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 20

Marlborough firefighters helped squelch a major incident in Hudson Thursday evening, and we've attached the photo of the young, missing girl from that Rockport beach.

1. The was busy Thursday afternoon assisting Hudson firefighters cut down several brush blazes near the intersection of 495 North and Route 62. This caused significant havoc with the rush hour traffic (see photo). Was your commute affected? Tell us in the comments. 

2. I've attached the photo of Caleigh Anne Harrison to today's column in the off-chance that anyone has seen her locally. She is the toddler that went missing from a Rockport, MA beach Thursday. As of this post, she had not been located though a significant effort is being made to locate her, both in law enforcement and in the media. She is 2 years, 9 months old. She has light brown hair and blue-gray eyes. She was last seen wearing a light pink T-shirt and dark pink Capri pants. A variety of explanations for the disappearance are being explored, and anyone with information is asked to immediately call 911. 

3. The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported Thursday that the Weetabix Co., currently based in Clinton, will move to Marlborough sometime soon. This is due to recent, strong growth within the company.

4. The Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts recently announced that Marlborough Girl Scout Eliana Greenstein Himle sold 628 boxes of Girl Scout cookies this year. Girl Scout troops use funds from the cookie activity to fund a service project or to plan for an exciting trip, said a release. With the money she earned, Eliana plans to spend her cookie money on a local trip with her troop and to buy new badges for her sash. 

5. State Senate candidate Dean Cavaretta challenged sitting senator Jamie Eldridge to a healthcare debate via Twitter on Thursday. Cavaretta tagged Marlborough Patch in his tweet but we haven't heard back from his opponent. Do you think Eldridge should accept the challenge?
