5 Things: Burglaries and City Loses out on $35,000

From daytime burglaries in the city to officials missing out on a potential $35,000 in funds for the city; we have what you need to know today.

1. The investigation into the daytime robberies which have been occuring in Marlborough and Northborough continues. A burglary arrest this week is being looked into for a connection to those robberies.

2. The proposed Cumberland Farms gas station on Maple Street has sailed through due to inaction by the City Council. Having missed their window to vote on an approval for the station, the council also missed their opportunity to gain a proposed $50,000 in remediation funds that would have gone to infrastructure improvements around the station. Those funds fall to the originally proposed $15,000.

3. As if "losing" $35,000 weren't bad enough, the lack of a vote also puts the hours back to those originally proposed instead of curtailed hours proposed during talks with the Urban Affairs Committee.

4. Speaking of gas, the prices have dropped another 2 cents across the state, according to the Boston Herald. That isn't enough for a night out on the town, unless you plan for that town to be Chicago and then your gas savings might cover an appetizer, but an improvement is an improvement.

5. Clunker, trailer queen or daily driver, we want to see a photo of your car in our contest. You will be in the running for a $25 gift certificate. I have already posted up a photo of my car to the contest so lets see some creativity and beautiful automobiles.
