5 Things: A Blizzard, Funerals and Check on the Elderly

Of course we are going to talk about the blizzard, but there is also other information that you need to know today.

1. Yes, there is a blizzard. Most of us have seen this kind of snow before, but not for a long time and city officials are urging people to stay off the roads if they can. The DPW spent all yesterday prepping for the storm and now they need the space to work.

2. There is a chance of power outages with the high winds and heavy snow this storm will produce. I suggest you download our app, 'like' Marlborough Patch on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. At least save this list of important numbers on your phone or as a link so that you do not have to go rummaging when you need them.

3. We have the latest obituaries in the region listed here. One funeral has been postponed due to the storm.

4. Call ahead this weekend if you are planning to go to an event. A number of events have already been postponed. If you hear of one that is, also let Marlborough Patch know so that we can let your neighbors know.

5. Remember to check on elderly loved ones and neighbors. This storm will be a doozie — that is just as scientific as many of the terms being bandied about by meteorologists for this blizzard — and people need to look out for each other.
