Gifts that goes the MILE!

My name is Dorrie Riley and I am walking in September, 50 miles in 3 days, to raise money for the awareness and support of MS. Check out my story!

Having multiple sclerosis means that you may suddenly have blurry vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. Or that you may not always be able to walk around the house, let alone for miles on end. The symptoms of MS are different, and for some devastating, for everyone - the only certainty is that it will affect yet another person every hour of every day.

Why I Walk So Far

I first met someone with MS many years ago.  Her name is Sue. She became an inspiration to me.  She was always so full of life, so happy to have another day. Sue never knew how the next day was going to be, she could wake up and feel great and be able to do everything she wanted to do that day or she might wake up and be total down for the count, as she often put it.  Those days, she hung around the house, slept a lot and just laid back and took it easy, hoping tomorrow would be better.  The "good" days she filled up with everything she could possibly do in one day! The thing that I love about Sue is that no matter which type of day she was having, she smiled, she laughed, and she just "did it". Since meeting Sue, I have met a few other people with MS, and they have all inspired me and taught me some things as well.  They have all shown me that people have different struggles with life, different obstacles and challenges, and that MS not only knocks you down but it makes it so much harder to get up!! I am walking this walk, to help make MS just a memory!!

Why You Should Sponsor Me

There are so many reasons WHY you should sponsor me.  I am a local Marlborough resident. For every dollar that we raise we are one step closer to making it so when someone hears "you have Multiple Sclerosis" it won't be as scary as it is right now and even better, so some day no one will hear "you have Multiple Sclerosis" any more.  That is the most important reason to sponsor me.

I have never done anything like this, so to me it is also a personal goal.  A goal that I KNOW I can attain.  I KNOW that I can walk those 50 miles. I know that it is going to be hard, I know it is going to hurt and I am sure I am even going to cry. But I can do this...  I just need YOUR help.

WE can do this for everyone that now has this devastating, disabling disease and for everyone that will get diagnosed with it in the future.  If MS has not touched some one in your family, or that you know yet, it could very quickly.  Every hour someone, somewhere gets this diagnosis,so sponsor me so WE can make a difference and take the steps to change this!!

Thank you,

Dorrie Riley
