Whole Foods Market to Open Hyannis Location

Cape Cod residents will have another option when shopping for natural and organic foods next winter.

Whole Foods Market, a natural foods supermarket based out of Austin, Texas, will open its first Cape Cod location in the former Borders Bookstore location in Hyannis.

The company plans to hire 175 employees and open the store in the winter of 2013, according to a press release.

President of the company’s North Atlantic region, Laura Derba, said over the years they have had many requests to bring a store to the Cape.

“We are pleased to be joining a community that is so well loved by residents and vacationers alike,” Derba said in a statement.

Whole Foods Market employs more than 69,000 people and has been ranked as the “100 Best Companies to Work For” in the country by Fortune magazine for 15 consecutive years.

Love it! I'd sent requests for a Cape store to WF for years! I agree that we need a Market Basket closer to Hyannis. They can have any S&S or Shaws location in by opinion!

I recently moved here from Nevada and am vegan and it has been challenging trying to find vegetables that look edible and specialty items that are cruelty-free, vegan. I am so very happy that Whole Foods is moving into town.

Pricey or not, having another competitor to Stop & Shop is GREAT! That chain has become such a ripoff! Stores are filthy and prices are ridiculous. With chain's buying power, it would be nice to pass some of that savings on to customers. Hooray for Market Basket, Whole Foods, and Trader Jack's!

Now that Walmart is joining forces with "Wild Oates" there will be competition for the organic food market! This will bring the prices down which is enivitable and very necessary!!GREAT!!!
