VIDEO: 'Poetry, People' Offers Outlet for Local Artists

Housed by the Coffee Loft on Lincoln Street, this writing and performance group is growing every week.

A group of local poets, musicians and writers is looking to swell its ranks. 

"Poetry, People" meets Thursday nights at the at 406 Lincoln St., and offers a chance for locals to have their artistic voices heard. 

"It's an opportunity for people to break out of their comfort zones," said organizer Jarad Bushnell.

So far, the weekly gathering, held each Thursday from about 7 to 9 p.m., has brought together a wide mix of people varying in age and experience. 

"I thought a lot of younger people would come out, but the crowd is mixed and a lot older than I thought, which is cool," added Bushnell.

Throughout the evening, a barista is on hand for those interested in purchasing coffees, teas and baked goods. 

For those with no interest in performing, Bushnell and company are happy to have the audience.
