The Coffee Loft Earns Title for Best Cup of Joe

We asked Marlborough residents to name their favorite coffee spot in town, and this Lincoln Street business came out the clear victor.

Just about everyone loves a good cup of coffee, and Marlborough is fortunate to have many options when looking for that perfect brew including several well-known chains. But Marlborough decided to go local this week in the Best of Patch Readers' Choice contest.

on Lincoln Street drew the most votes for its organic and artisanal blends of coffee and tea. The business also recently started serving food.

"I think it is about the connection with the neighborhood and that we try to source everything locally," said owner Deborah Fairbanks. "Our commitment to organic coffees and teas is strong, and the business is more a personal creation than anything else."

The Coffee Loft is also known for its comfortable environment with art-strewn walls (all for sale), and many activities and musical performances throughout the week.

"We have a strong connection with the Marlborough art community and that gives the Coffee Loft a special flavor as well," said Fairbanks, who renovated the business (and the adjacent lofts and gallery) from a boarded up factory into the present day digs. "This is meant to be an anchor for the neighborhood and the community. We wanted to be able to invite people in and have this gathering spot."

Fairbanks was grateful for the acknowledgement of the community.

"I appreciate everyone's vote, and I am happy to see that people are interested in supporting local business... and our wonderful baristas!"
