Readers Liked Tree-Lighting and Tragedy Strikes MHS Grad

The platform is one way we look to interact with you, answer your questions and get to see what's on your mind. Social Media Saturday is a weekly feature where we highlight your questions and thoughts you've shared on Facebook, Twitter and other media throughout the past week.

Highlights of the Week:

Currently, we've got 892 fans liking us on Facebook, which is a great thing. We've also got 953 followers on Twitter, with numbers growing every day. Here are some highlights of what took place this week: 

1. Downtown Marlborough came alive with Christmas spirit and lights Friday and our readers were there! On Marlborough Patch's Facebook page , comments gave high marks to the Marlborough High School Jazz Ensemble and told of kids having a great time and singing. 2. The plans for 290 apartments to be built on Rte. 20 in West Marlborough have been dashed when the developer, Marlborough/Northborough Land Realty Trust, withdrew this week. Many readers commented on Marlborough Patch's Facebook page in response to the question, "Is anyone upset by this decision?" One reader had an emphatic response, "Not at all!...God forbid they leave one square inch of land undeveloped."

Another reader said that she would be upset if the apartments were going to be for low-income individuals and families. She hopes that a new developer is hired soon, but other commenters are not too hopeful about that. "My guess is that given the economy and the glut of existing and approved office space projects in Marlboro that it will be a decade or more before new projects are proposed for the land we have discussed," says one Facebook visitor.

3. Sadly, former Marlborough resident, Scott Symonds, was killed in a traffic accident last weekend after attending his 20th Marlborough High School reunion. Marlborough Patch  and how some of Symonds' classmates on Rte. 85 entering Hudson in memorial.
