MetroWest Shelter Running Low on Food

The MetroWest Humane Society in Ashland is in dire need of cat food donations after the tough winter months.

The MetroWest Humane Society in Ashland serves several communities in the area including Marlborough, but more importantly they serve the needs of homeless cats.

After a tough winter, the MWHS is feeling its effects in several areas including low food supplies. Normally the organization puts out a sign requesting cat food donations, but the many feet of snow on the ground these past months has prevented them from doing so.

“We need any kind of dry food, and pâté-style meat- or poultry-flavor canned food,” said Jackie Walters, MWHS manager in a press release. "Fancy Feast turkey kitten food as well as all-meat, stage-one human baby food are also in short supply at the shelter."

The donated canned food feeds the approximately 90 cats in the shelter, as well as feral cats living in area colonies and kittens in foster care. Donations will also help feed pets of people feeling an economic pinch through MWHS’s Community Outreach Program.

If you can help, visit MetroWestHumaneSociety, or by calling 508-875-3776.
