Deck Dining at Bolton Street Tavern a Step Closer

Outside dining came closer to reality for the Bolton Street Tavern following a public hearing Monday night.

"The beauty of this location is really overlooking the water," Bolton Street Tavern owner John Stounaras told Marlborough Patch when he was first talking about an outdoor deck for dining at the Bolton Street Tavern.
That dining experience — which has taken form into a 40 person deck on the back of the building to overlook Fort Meadow Reservoir — was discussed during a public hearing before the City Council Monday night. There was mostly positive support for the outside dining which would only go until 11 p.m. without any outside music.

“The skating rink, hotels and restaurants make it all work,” said Wes Tuttle who manages the New England Sports Center and explained the outside dining would add to the city. “We are unique."

The deck would be built facing the water with one entrance off of the main building. It would not impact parking at the former Piccadilly Pub location.

One neighbor questioned the noise impact currently and with the possibility of extended hours into the future. He was informed that different hours would require another special permit.
The issue is currently before the Urban Affairs Committee.
