A Mixed Bag, a Piece of Art

Post Road Art Center is accepting entries for their new art show entitled "It's in the Bag."

For $25, you get a bag filled with 12 secret items and your entrance fee is included for the upcoming "It's in the Bag" art show at the .

It is then up to the individual artist to make works of art using only those items, said owner Randi Isaacson. 

"No one knows what is in the bag until they buy one," said Isaacson. "Once we hang the show then we will lay out a display of everything we put in the bag so that people viewing the show can see what they are looking at."

Each participant is allowed to enter one piece for the show and cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, third and fourth place based on popular vote.

"I can’t wait to see everything that everyone has created," said Isaacson. "People are really thinking outside the box and doing some amazing things. This is our first time doing this (kind of exhibit).

"I love giving local artists an opportunity to show their work and now with our new gallery space, it looks so great," she added. "Having a different show each month keeps the gallery fresh. Each time someone visits, they get a fresh new experience and maybe something new for their walls."

Finished pieces may be dropped off though March 1. There is an opening reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 8 at the gallery. Isaacson said all are welcome, whether you're an artist or you just want to see the show.

All works will be exhibited and on sale in the new gallery through March 29.
