5 Things to Know Today: March 16

Here is a list of things you might want to know today.

1. The National Weather Service says there is going to be some rain and snow showers before 11 a.m. today. Little to no accumulation is expected, and we should see a high of 46 at some point in the day. 

2. Stonehill College sophomore Rebecca Moore, of Marlborough, ( St. Mark's School) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week by the conference office for last week, March 7-13. Moore earns the honor for the first time this season after posting a 5.50 goals against average in a 2-0 week for Stonehill as the Skyhawks opened their NE-10 schedule. Congratulations to Rebecca!

3. Calling all Trivia buffs! Register today to participate in a Team Trivia Contest hosted by the Latin Club. Students, teachers, families, and friends can play and compete for prizes of $400, $300, and $100 for the top three teams. Trivia questions will be given from all subject areas! Show off your knowledge or just come and cheer on the teams! The contest will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Advanced Math and Science Academy’s Upper School Cafeteria located at 199 Forest Street in Marlborough. The registration and entry fee of $100 is due by March 28. You can get a registration form by emailing n.sinacola@amsacs.org. All proceeds will benefit the JCL Scholarship Fund of the Latin Club.

4. Today is a professional development day in the Marlborough Public School system and that means an early release for all the kids. Click here for details. 

5. A recent item from the Natick Police Log included a Sunday, March 13, 6:55 p.m. motor vehicle stop where a Marlborough resident was placed under arrest. The stop on Route 9 led to the arrest of Ruyther Rufo Costa, 40, of 43 Spring St., for driving without a license, and an outstanding warrant for his arrest for larceny over $250 by check.
