5 Local Nonprofits to Support

This week, Patch Picks highlights some of Marlborough's nonprofits.

1. The offers a great online resource of information about our fair city's early days. Monthly programs are available as well. 

2. The mission of is to provide social services and wellness programs for all people, regardless of age, race, gender, or any other discriminatory factors.

3. The Recovery Connection is a peer recovery support center, designed for and by people in recovery, and offers a variety of services such as sober events, family education and support, and twelve step fellowships in order to aid them in their path to an addiction-free lifestyle.

4. The Organization for the Assabet River is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the Assabet River and its tributaries. Their goals are to raise awareness in the community, collect and advocate for data in order to maintain up-to-date solutions to the river's conservation, and work with politicians and community members in order to keep the river fishable and swimmable.

5.  boys' and girls' teams play in the spring and fall seasons. There are 13 age groups, from 6 to 18; teams for kids 8 and under are co-ed. Soccer is played on several different fields around town, including those at Marlborough High School, Assabet Valley High School, Byrne, Ghiloni and Kelleher.
