VIDEO: May 19: Marlborough's Headlines 100 Years Ago

Six days a weeks (Mon—Sat) Marlborough Patch will highlight an interesting story from the Marlborough Daily Enterprise published on that date 100 years ago.

May 19: Plenty of Smoke but Building Not Afire

The burning of some extra paper refuse in the furnace in the Burdett building Thursday evening about 7:50 brought out the largest crowd of people seen in Marlboro for a long time. Arthur Boucher saw the smoke rolling up in clouds and pulled in the alarm. There was a large crowd on the streets at the time and these with the many who rushed from all directions, made the streets impassable. The smoke continued to roll upward causing many to think that the Warren building, the Brown building and other structures were on fire.

Chief Minehan after making a thorough investigation, sent the fire apparatus back to their house and the all out was wounded with 10 minutes after the alarm was given.
