State Rep. Hosts Haunted House to Benefit Food Bank

Rep. Steven Levy, his family and the Marlborough Lions Club are all working together to bring a scare to the Marlborough community, and some much needed supplies to the Marlborough Food Bank.

For those looking for some seasonal entertainment or even a bit of a scare, look no further than O'Grady Road here in Marlborough. That is where state representative Steven Levy, his wife Sharon, his daughter Ashley and members of the Marlborough Lions Club are hosting a weekend haunted house throughout the month of October.

This is not your run-of-the-mill haunted house, however, as it occupies the majority of Levy's own yard and garage. And while there is no charge to attend this particular display, every visitor is encouraged to bring donations for the when they visit. A blue container at the base of the Levy driveway (61 O'Grady Rd.) is the drop zone for canned goods and other non-perishables. See a full list of acceptable donations here.

In its eighth year at the Levy residence, the haunted house is a means to bring attention and supplies to an organization in desperate need of aid.

"The Marlborough Food Pantry is continuously in need of support but especially at this time of year," said Levy, who holds the 4th Middlesex seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, and is a longtime Marlborough member. "The Haunted House is a way to have fun while raising awareness of our neighbors in need. It's one way we give back to the community and we encourage everyone to visit and donate to this great cause."

Expect to be greeted by Levy and Co. dressed in full (scary) costume, and then traverse the property taking in all the ghostly and ghoulish sights.

Levy said they will temper the fear factor every evening to suit the crowd in attendance, making sure not to scare the little ones too much.

The hours of the operation are 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings through the month of October.

They even have a Facebook page for the event.
