Library to Begin 'One World, Many Stories' Summer Reading Program

Starting this week the Marlborough Public Library will begin a summer reading program that will focus on a new continent each week.

This week the library's summer reading program will delve into all things Australia.

Monday, June 27, 3:30-4:30 p.m., Australian Walkabout: We’ll play games, including a Kangaroo Jump, Boomerang Toss, and Tasmanian Devil Marbles, do a boomerang craft and eat snacks. This program is recommended for children ages 5-12. Registration is required.

Monday, June 27, 6 to 7 p.m., PJ Storytime with StoryTeens: Join the Marlborough Library’s StoryTeens for a drop-in pajama story time for families! Grab a blanket and some portable dinner, then come as you are! Our summer teen volunteers, the "Story Teens", will lead us in story and song. PJs are encouraged! This program is for all ages, no registration required.

Tuesday, June 28, 3-4:30 p.m., World of Art: Aboriginal Painting: Join Debby to create fun art projects! Dressing for painting is recommended. This week you’ll learn about Australian Aboriginal Art and have the chance to make a beautiful painting to take home. This program is recommended for children ages 7-12.  Registration is required.

Tuesday, June 28, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Fins, Fur, and Feathers: An Animal Adventure: Join Jess to learn about animals all over the world, play games, and make crafts. This week, you’ll learn about Australian Animals and make a Didgeridoo. This program is recommended for children ages 6-12. Registration is required.

Wednesday, June 29, 10-10:30 a.m., World Travelers’ Drop-In Storytime: Join us in the play area of the Children’s Room for a fun, drop-in storytime! This program is for children of all ages, no registration required.

Wednesday, June 29, 1 to 2:30 p.m., Drop-In Craft: Join Stephanie to create fun crafts. This week you’ll be making an Australian collage. This program is for children of all ages, no registration required.

Thursday, June 30, 6 to 8 p.m., Drop-In Movie: The Rescuers Down Under: Join us in the auditorium for a fun movie. We’ll provide the snacks, you just need to bring your family and friends! This week’s feature is the story of to mice of the Rescue Aid Society who race to Australia to save a boy and a rare golden eagle from a poacher. Rated G, for general audiences. This program is for children ages 4 and up and their caregivers only.  Snacks will be provided, no registration required.
