Did You Watch the Golden Globes? What Did You Think?

Burlington native Amy Poehler teamed up with friend and former SNL colleague Tina Fey to host the annual awards.

Did you catch the 70th Annual Golden Globes last night?

According to the Huffingtonpost.com, the award ceremony this year was the most-watched ceremony on television since 2007, with 19.7 million viewers.

Of course there were big winners of actual awards two big ratings winners were hosts Amy Peohler, a Burlington native, and Tina Fay.

According to the Huffington Post article the longtime friends made perfect comedy partners with "Fey, a little more wary and neurotic; Poehler, a little more wide-eyed and goofy. And both of them brilliant and fearless."

The pair had some good laugh lines during their opening. One joke Poehler made was an homage to the previous host Ricky Gervais, whose edgy jokes caused some controversy.

"We want to assure you that we have no intention of being edgy or offensive tonight," Poehler declared, "because, as Ricky learned the hard way, when you run afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press, they make you host this show TWO MORE TIMES!"

According to the Huffington Post, the pair made sport of arguably the night's most august moment – President Bill Clinton's surprise appearance to introduce the nominated film "Lincoln."

"Wow, that was exciting," the breathless Poehler marveled afterward. "That was Hillary Clinton's husband!" A joke that ties in perfectly with Poehler's role as Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation, a highly-enthusiastic local politician who's heroes are strong female political leaders.

I liked Poehler's shoutout to Ben Affleck with the Boston accent.
