100 Years Ago: Tree Warden Needed in Marlborough

July 24, 2011: Limbs Hitting Wires Cause of Alarms

H.W. Angier, superintendent of the fire alarm system, has discovered the cause of the wild blows struck during the storm Thursday evening. Limbs of trees hitting the wires choking the circuit, cause the trouble, which will always be with us until the disturbing factors are removed. In most cities and towns there is a tree warden to order such work done , but Marlboro does not enjoy the luxury of such an official. The officers of the fire department, however, think it would be a good idea to give such authority to somebody.
