100 Years Ago: Home Burglary is a Mystery

Six days a weeks (Mon—Sat) Marlborough Patch will highlight an interesting story from the Marlborough Daily Enterprise published on that date 100 years ago.

June 3, 1911: Thief Takes Only Jewelry: Stranger Seen Entering Howe St. House Thursday —Police Investigating Case

Louis Carozechia, 108 Howe St., reported to the police department Friday, that while he and Mrs. Carozechia were working in the factory Thursday, their tenement was entered and the following list of valuables taken: A watch and chain, chain bracelet, two rings and a broach. 

Officer George D. Brigham was assigned to the case and at once put an investigation in motion. He found that the room from where the property was taken had been entered by skeleton keys, but while the probably thief was seen entering the building Thursday, his identity is wrapped in mystery. He is described as a man of medium height, dark complexion, and the wearer of dark clothing and a cap. It is thought that the man comes from out of town.
