100 Years Ago: Boy Alerts Residents, Fire Department of Blaze

Six days a weeks (Mon—Sat) Marlborough Patch will highlight an interesting story from the Marlborough Daily Enterprise published on that date 100 years ago.

June 24, 1911: Fire in Robin Hill District Friday Forenoon

An alarm from box 26 shortly after 10 Friday forenoon was caused by a blaze in the house of Harry T. Rowles, Berlin road. The roof was pretty well burned before the blaze was extinguished. The loss is about $600, which is covered by insurance.

The alarm was given by a boy named Everett Brodeur, who saw the chimney blazing. He rushed into  the Rowles house and told Mrs. Rowles who was performing her household duties.
