When is the Father Daughter Dance?

A reader recently asked us to find out when the Marlboro Lions Annual Father-Daughter Dance will be held.

The 18th annual Marlboro Lions Annual Father-Daughter Dance will be held this Friday, April 12, at the Marlborough High School Cafeteria.

Tickets can be purchased for $7.00 each from Bouvier’s Pharmacy, Main Street Café and Sergio’s Restaurant. DJ Dave Cormier will provide the music and John Sahaigian will take formal pictures. Light refreshments will be served and activities begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.

The dance has turned into one of the clubs most popular fundraisers, with 500 tickets being sold this year. Daughters from age three and up are welcome to come with their fathers.

"Usually, by the time the daughter reaches 12 or 13 she does not want to be seen with her dad," said Lion Elizabeth Ruane who is the club secretary and co-chair of the Father Daughter Dance.

Marlboro Lions is a service organization with money raised going towards eye research and the needs of the community, she said. Some of the local club's service projects include scholarships to a senior at Marlborough, Hudson and Assabet High Schools, sponsoring youth sports, aid to the elderly, eyeglasses to those in need, recycling eyeglasses, hearing aids and phones, eye screenings and more, said Ruane.
