Tractor-Trailer Rollover Delays 495 South Traffic

Speed appears to have been a factor, according to State Police.

Motorists getting onto the Mass Pike during the Thursday evening commute should avoid the I-495 South ramp entrance following an accident, State Police said in a press release.

A tractor-trailer carrying glass containers rolled over on Interstate 495 at the Massachusetts Turnpike on Thursday, trapping the two occupants inside, State Police say.

The two victims, a man and a woman, both age 65, were extricated from the tractor-trailer by the Westborough and Hopkinton Fire Departments, and taken by ambulance to the UMass Memorial Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, State Police said.

The tractor-trailer was on I-495 South when it rolled onto the Mass Pike on-ramp, State Police said.

Speed appears to have been a factor, State Police said.

That on-ramp will remain closed for several hours, State Police said.
