UPDATED: Power Out on West, East Sides of Marlborough

Almost 700 customers of National Grid lost power shortly before 6 a.m. Monday, north and south of Route 290.

About 1,300 customers of National Grid in Marlborough are without power Monday morning, following two incidents that disrupted electrical lines.

The first, reported before 6 a.m., affected about 700 customers on the west side of the city, north and south of Route 290. That outage now has just 300 customers affected, according to Jake Navarro, a spokesman for National Grid. The problem is in an underground cable in the area of Donald Lynch Boulevard, and is still being identified.

The second, larger, outage was reported about 8:20 a.m. when a tree limb fell on power lines in the area of Route 20. Initially, this knocked out power to 2,300 customers, generally east of Route 85 and south of Route 20. As of 10 a.m., the number of customers affected was down to 1,000.

National Grid expects power to be restored in this problem area this morning, as the fix is not complicated.
