POLL: Does the Italian Cruise Disaster Make You Think Twice?

After the recent news of the Carnival cruise ship "Costa Concordia" sinking off the coast of Italy, would you harbor any reservations about taking a cruise? 

At least one Metrowest couple and another from Cambridge were honeymooning on the ship when it went down. While they made it ashore safely, at least six died during the sinking and 16 more were still missing as of Monday evening. 

The Worcester Telegram and Gazette spoke with family members of the Marlborough residents who were on board. 

“All we could hear was yelling and screaming and absolute chaos,” said Steven A. Burgess, quoting his son Sean Burgess, a passenger on the ship. 

The Boston Globe quoted a Cambridge resident who was on board as saying, “People were running up and down the stairs. People were screaming. Children were crying. It was panic,’’ Benji Smith recalled by phone last night from a hotel room in Rome.

The Costa Concordia capsized after hitting a reef off the cost of the island Giglio on the Italian coast.
