Golf Tournament Raises $40K for Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest

Hudson Club Director, Gary Violette accepts R.F. Wood Award.

On Monday, July 14, more than 150 golfers and volunteers joined together for the 22nd year in memory of Bob “R.F.” Wood and raise much needed funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest. Presented by DCU for Kids, the 22nd Annual R.F. Wood Kids Classic Golf Tournament was held at Marlborough Country Club and raised over $40,000 to support the quality out-of-school programming that serves over 3,500 local youth each year.

Golfers enjoyed 18 holes of golf, lunch on the course provided by Panera Bread of Marlborough, a cocktail reception and dinner. They also participated in raffles, betting holes and contests throughout the day, including a Hole-in-One contest for a 2014 Nissan Altima donated by Marlboro Nissan which unfortunately nobody won. We would like to thank our 2014 major sponsors – Presenting Sponsor- DCU for Kids; Dinner Sponsor- Ken’s Foods, Inc.; Registration Sponsor- MutualOne Bank;  Kids Classic Sponsors- Align Credit Union, Central Federal One Credit Union – for their continued support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest and the R.F. Wood Kids Classic Golf Tournament.

At dinner, after the tournament, the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest, together with the Wood family, presented the R.F. Wood Award to Gary Violette, Hudson Clubhouse Director for the organization. Everyday Gary gives the Club all he has and represents the many qualities that “R.F.” Wood valued.
