617 Boros Unite for Boston's One Fund at the Celtic Tavern

A local woman is putting together a benefit for the One Fund.

Alexis Krieger Dascoli, who is a small business owner in Marlborough, has helped with many fundraisers over the past years, and says she's never said no to those who asked for help. This time, the cause really hits home.

Dascoli donated her graphic services to an event to benefit the One Fund, which was set up to help out the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. The event is on June 23 at the Celtic Tavern. Called 617 Boros Unite for Boston, and it'll run from noon to 10 p.m.

It is being organized by Emily Gauvin and Mike Walsh, who owns the Celtic Tavern. Dascoli was originally contacted about the event by Gauvin, who is Walsh's girlfriend.

"There is a group of us from the Celtic, which I named Team 617, organizing this fundraiser," said Gauvin."Mike came to me and said he wanted to organize a fundraiser for the events that took place at the Boston Marathon, and I thought it was a great idea. I have never organized a fundraiser before but I love to plan and organize parties and events. So I thought this would be a great this to do and give back to the community."

Gauvin said she has two children, and when they heard about what had happened at the marathon, they had "so many questions."

"I feel this is a great way for Mike and I to step up as role models and show my kids how to help out our community and be selfless in time of need," said Gauvin.

"It's in my heart to help those who are in need and this event really hits home as this is for the Boston One Fund," added Dascoli. "It's my city; I have to help."

Tickets, which are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, include live music, a barbecue, games, beruit, basketball, a road race, raffles, silent auction and "famous faces."

Organizers do not have a specific target amount, but hope to "raise as much as possible."

Though the list is not complete as of yet, acts slated to play include: Brian Richard, Dave Rivers, American Hellbilly, Dope Slap, Subterranean Blues, Tension, Malarkey, Squelch, Fran Dagastino, Ari Charbonneau and Jesse Garcia and Members of Belit.

If you cannot attend the event, you can still help out. Contact Walsh at walshy01606@yahoo.com for more information. All proceeds benefit the Boston One Fund 2013.
