Eat, drink and be merry at ‘Taste of Downtown Marlborough’ on June 13

The inaugural beer showcase has attracted 24 regional micro breweries each bringing two to four of their brews for sampling.

Save the evening of June 13 for an extravaganza of food, beer, entertainment and get in a little exercise, as you stroll around the Taste of Downtown Marlborough. The food fest is being held for the fourth time, and event organizer Bob Kane introduces the first Annual Brewfest to the lineup this year.

The inaugural beer showcase has attracted 24 regional micro breweries each bringing two to four of their brews for sampling. Some of them have quirky names like Magic Hat, Clown Shoes, and Strange Brew! There will be three main brew sampling locations: Masonic Hall, Lazy Dog and a tent in front of the FISH Restaurant and Vin Bin.

Entrance badges for the Foodfest can be purchased ahead of time for $15 ($5 saving) and badges for the Foodfest and Brewfest cost $20 in advance. All in all a great deal!!

There will be over 25 eating establishments participating including first timers Christopher Heights who will be giving out giant cookies on Main Street and Bella Cakes doling out sweet delights in the shape of cup cakes and desserts.  The Big Apple Restaurant from Rte 20 will have a presence and Trombetta’s Farm may show as well to keep things cool. A surprise venue is Edward Jones on Maple Street who will dish out Chili and host some entertainment.

There will be plenty of free parking in the two downtown parking garages, municipal parking lots, and on-street parking. There will also be directional signs so people know where to find the various food locations. Entertainment is planned at several different venues throughout downtown. Performers include Ashland’s Attic, Flashback, the Jesse Fontaine Trio and Jazz saxophonist Clyde Wheatley, with more names to be announced shortly.

A couple of thousand people are expected to pass through the streets of downtown Marlborough on June 13. What better way to spend a summer’s evening than strolling around with family or friends, socializing and getting more than your money’s worth of sumptuous food.

Bob says with a laugh someone suggested they should have got either Alka-Seltzer or Bromo Seltzer as a sponsor for the event. With all the eating and drinking on the agenda you may be well advised to bring some antacids with you.
