Annual Marlborough Innovation Summit On Oct 28 Will Spotlight Life Sciences

Annual Summit will draw attention to Marlborough's growing life sciences cluster

The Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), together with sponsor Mirick O’Connell will host the second annual Marlborough Innovation Summit on Friday October 28 at the Marlborough Holiday Inn. The Summit will focus on Life Sciences this year.

Keynote speaker Robert Coughlin, President and CEO of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, will speak on “The State of Bio-Tech: Nationally, Statewide, and Locally”.

This will be followed by a panel discussion on topics relevant to life science companies already operating in Marlborough. Panelists include Susan Windham-Bannister, PhD, President, Massachusetts Life Sciences Center; David Pierce, Senior Vice President, Boston Scientific and President Endoscopy Division; Elizabeth Higgins, PhD, Founder & CEO, Glyco Solutions; Jay Warner, Senior Vice President for Clinical Development and Commercialization, CeQur Ltd; Kathy Singh, Controller Advanced Cell Technology; Lisa Wilk, President and CEO, Capaccio Environmental Engineering Inc. The Panel will be moderated by Kevin O’Sullivan, President and CEO of the Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives.

Representatives from over 52 companies and institutions will participate in the summit. In addition 12 Chinese life sciences students currently studying at the Massachusetts International Academy in Marlborough have been invited to participate. These students are preparing to enter leading Boston colleges and universities.

Mirick O’Connell will present its Innovation Award to a Marlborough-based life sciences company. Last year Raytheon and Bridge Energy Group received innovation awards.
