Wind Advisory in Effect for Marlborough

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. A wind advisory will be in effect for a broad section of southeastern New England, including Marlborough, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, as two distinct storm systems move through the area. Gusts are expected to reach up to 57 mph, with sustained winds of 37 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

2. Marlborough's varsity field hockey team fell in the first-round game of the sectional quarter-finals to Algonquin Regional High School. The Tomahawks defeated visiting Marlborough, 3-0, in a 2013 Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Field Hockey Central Division 1 first-round game, according to the bracket.

3. A drawing that sent one lucky couple to Game 6 of the World Series Wednesday also raised $6,000 for the McAuliffe Charter School, which accepts students from several surrounding towns, including Marlborough.

4. Reminder: this is the weekend to turn the clocks back. Turn them back as you head to bed on Saturday night.
