Ward Park Neighborhood Association Receives Grant, Will Fundraise for Legal Challenge

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. The Ward Park Neighborhood Association announced Tuesday night that it has received a grant from a Vermont-based environmental fund, and will continue to fundraise to mount a legal challenge of the City Council's decision to locate a new senior center at Ward Park. "It is expected that enough will be raised to fund a legal challenge," the organization said. "Residents opposed to the decision by the mayor and city council to take open space recreation land away from an inner city park that serves low income residents, minority residents and the youth of Marlborough are encouraged to donate." 2. Marlborough High School students Nicholas Dell Isola and Erinn Farmer have been named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program. They are among the top 5 percent in scorers nationally on the 2012 PSAT.

3. Santa has now taken up residence at Solomon Pond Mall. He's having an event on Saturday. Beginning at 8:30 a.m., the event includes “Make Your Own Minion” food, letters to Santa, a jingle bell parade led by Santa and ornament craft making. There will also be a visit from Santa at The Children’s Place.

4. Reminder that schools in Marlborough will have an early dismissal on Wednesday for parent teacher conferences.
