Godspell Auditions, Marlborough Resident Helps Inspire State Energy Program

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. The state this week announced the creation of a new competitive grant program to cover the cost of municipal energy managers who will concentrate on finding ways to reduce energy, an idea that came from two people, including Jen Boudrie of Marlborough. Boudrie is founder of the Mass Green Careers Conference, according to an announcement from the office of state Sen. James Eldridge. The grant program is open to all Massachusetts municipalities, as well as regional school districts, that do not already employ a full- or part-time local energy manager. A total of $1.7 million is available for disbursement.

2. Pedro G Oliveira, a junior at The Rivers School in Weston, was recently named to its honor roll for the first term. Marlborough High School also recently announced its list, seen here.

3. Save the Date: The Ghost Light Players of Marlborough will hold an open audition on Feb. 4 and 6, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., for Godspell. Auditions will be by appointment at the First Church of Marlborough.

4. A new online publication aimed at activities for children has appeared in Marlborough: Macaroni Kid. See the announcement for more details.

5. In Case You Missed It: Everyone wants to claim the worst drivers, it seems, but Massachusetts actually came out pretty well on this recent survey.
