Holiday Volunteers Sought Around Marlborough

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. The Kettles of the Salvation Army are already out at popular shopping spots in Marlborough, including at Solomon Pond Mall's doorways, where Patch spotted them two weeks ago, and at grocery stores. But Marlborough volunteers are still needed. Click here for more information.

2. The United Way of Tri-County also needs some holiday elves, to help sort and bag hundreds of Christmas presents for children in the area. Click here for more information on that.

3. Where can one donate a toy through Toys for Tots? Here are statewide locations: Toys R Us, Sullivan Tire, Walgreens, AAA, Merrimac Valley Federal Credit Union, Murphy Insurance and Sal's Pizza.

4. Reminder: if you are interested in extreme couponing, a guru of such things is at Solomon Pond Mall in two sessions Friday, for a modest fee.

5. In Case You Missed It: Marlborough was well-represented in the recent STEM Teacher of the Year event at Patriot Place. Kelly Powers, a computer science teacher and department chair at the Advanced Math and Science Academy (AMSA) in Marlborough, was chosen as The Hall’s Massachusetts STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) Teacher of the Year. Alexia Forhan of Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough was one of five finalists.
