Upcoming Events Focus on Jobs for Marlborough Residents

The first Marlborough Works job fair is scheduled for June 13.

When he ran for office, Mayor Arthur Vigeant promised city voters he’d try to find ways to put more Marlborough residents to work. Along with efforts to make the city more attractive to businesses, Vigeant is now working to help connect job-seekers with existing, open positions. "Attracting and maintaining jobs and businesses in Marlborough is crucial,” Vigeant told Patch when he was inaugurated. He noted that he was one of the founders of the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation. “I have reached out to businesses wanting to expand within the city and reached out to bring new ones to Marlborough." The centerpiece of the effort to fill vacant jobs with local workers is the Marlborough Works! Job Fair planned for June 13. Local …

Review This

Review This: Trombetta's

What's your favorite flavor?

Trombetta's Farm Road Gardens has long been a treasured ice cream shop. Patrons rave about the quality and flavors. I remember as a kid growing up in Sudbury hoping we'd hit this place for an after-dinner treat. My mother, gone six years now, would always hope to catch their fresh peach ice cream on a night we went. Have you been there recently? If so, how was the ice cream? What menu items would you recommend? What would make you go there more? Regional Readers' Choice for a Staycation: PiNZ in Milford

So you have a few days off, and aren't planning to travel? The best place for adults and kids is PiNZ in Milford, according to regional Patch readers.

It's always great to be able to escape for a weekend to an exotic location, a favorite getaway. But sometimes we just need to stick closer to home. Where to go on the next Staycation, when staying home, literally, is not that much fun? Readers in the MetroWest Patches chose PiNZ in Milford. PiNZ has a large video arcade with 30 games, 20 bowling lanes and a full-service restaurant and bar. Something for everyone, it seems. The 40,000-square-foot facility, at 110 S. Main St., is owned by David Breen. "We're grateful for the votes," he said Friday. "We try hard to offer a positive experience for our guests when they're there." PiNZ began life as a roller skating rink, the Skate Palace, back in the 1970s, and was transformed by 2006 to the …

TJX Buys Marlborough Property, Keeps Framingham as HQ

Mayor Arthur Vigeant's office comments on the company's latest announcement.

Late last week the TJX Company announced at Framingham Town Meeting that it planned to maintain its corporate headquarters in Framingham, causing concern in Marlborough that this would affect the company's plans to expand into Marlborough.  The company, which owns TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Home Goods, purchased a Marlborough property owned by Fidelity in late April.  “TJX is pleased to have completed its purchase of two buildings located at 300 and 400 Puritan Way in Marlborough, said a representative of the company at the time. "This space is expected to house certain home office operations and will help TJX accommodate its future growth plans." Mayor Arthur Vigeant's office said the announcement by TJX should not affect any future plans …

The two buildings were part of the larger DEC campus, and were built to house tech infrastracture. I worked at 400 Puritan for Fidelity until HR found out about my illness and fired me. TJX is a socially responsible company unlike Fidelity. Marlborough is a much better place without companies like Evergreen and Fidelity, companies whose only hallmark is dishonest greed... Readers Tap Kennedy's as Best Mother's Day Spot

With Mother's Day right around the corner, readers have recommended this Marlborough mainstay.

Marlborough Patch readers weighed on the best spot to celebrate Mother's Day this week, and untimately chose Kennedy's Pub as number one.  A staple of the Marlborough restaurant community for many years, this is the restaurant's second win in Best of Patch Readers' Choice for Kennedy's. They took home the win for best place to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day in March.  The restaurant will be offering some special menu items this Mother's Day, Sunday, May 13.  We will have a nice selection of specials on mothers day," said manager Julie Doherty. The chef will be making prime rib, a roast turkey dinner, lamb sirloin, boiled lobster, a nice California chicken special stuffed with brocolli and cheese, and there will be fried clams as well." Tailgaters Plan to Open End of May

The Acton-based restaurant said they are in the final stages of acquiring their liquor license.

The sports bar, restaurant chain Tailgaters announced late last year that they would be opening a location in Marlborough, and after months of delays in the business receiving its liquor license, the company now expects to be open for business toward the end of May. Tailgaters took over the building previously operated by the now-closed Georgio's at 757 Boston Post Rd. E., and has had "coming soon" signs promoting an opening for months.  A representative of Tailgaters told Marlborough Patch earlier this year that the process to get the liquor license was taking longer than expected. That information was confirmed Thursday. "We are waiting for the liquor license to be in hand and we should have that by the end of May," said Kim Reardon, …
