Fire fighters knocked down a blaze at 103 Mechanic Street. The damage was estimated at $10,000 according to a release from the fire department.

The call went out shortly after 2 p.m. for smoke showing from the building with reports of fire on the roof. The call that the fire had been knocked down went out shortly after 4:40 p.m.

Both Assabet Automotive & Business Services and Assabet Construction Services, Inc. are listed as businesses at the address.
