The Worcester Sharks Mascot greets elementary students at the Richer School Wednesday morning.

The "Walking School Bus" program began at the Richer Elementary School Wednesday with special visitors and members of the FINZ from the Worcester Sharks. For the Walking School Bus, students, along with parents and some teachers, met at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot at the Ninety-Nine Restaurant on Boston Post Road West, and walk to the school together on Foley Road.

"We are very excited to be joined by the FINZ," said media coordinator for the Richer School PTO, Mary Grgurevich. "The FINZ Fit Kidz is the flagship community program of the Worcester Sharks promoting fitness and healthy choices among kids. This assembly based program brings together the Sharks players and St. Vincent Hospital staff to visit schools throughout central Mass to promote healthy living."

We were very excited to have Finz join us for Richer's 1st Walking School Bus of the 2011 school year. We had approximately 85 students turn out to walk to school. The Marlborough Wellness Council and Safe Routes to School sponsor the walks at schools in Marlborough. A big thank you to all of the parents who brought their kids out. Remember you can park and walk to school any day with your kids!
