Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

TELL US: Who Makes a Difference in Marlborough

Help showcase people who are doing great things in your community with our new feature, Count Us In.

Your neighbor who volunteers at the library, your child’s bus driver, and the Little League coach in your community may not seem to have much in common at first glance.

But Patch’s new initiative, Count Us In, aspires to bring together all Good Samaritans by highlighting residents who are exemplary at making your community a more positive place.

Over the weekend, there was a benefit for Bobby and Donna Peltak who have given back to the community. We have also recently featured stories on those getting out for a specific cause, whether it is fighting Alzheimer's or for Autism awareness.

Partnering with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (HPHC), Count Us In aims to illustrate HPHC's values. They believe that “amazing things happen when people work together” and that is why we want to share stories about just that.

If you know someone who exemplifies being a good neighbor, volunteer or teacher—or someone who has simply helped the community in an inspiring way—please tell us about it in the comments section below. Your local editor will keep an eye on the conversation and will be writing articles about all of the amazing people and stories you share.

We welcome all great stories coming from great people in the community.

How about George E. Larassa of G&L Auto and Alexis E. Krieger-Dascoli of AEK Designs/WearLex, both long time residents who give unselfishly of their time and talents to countless organizations, pro bono whether it be their time, creative talents etc. These Beautiful, compassioante and loving people, 2 of whom I know personally give of themselves without question, without asking why shoud I, they just do. Let us not forget those who love and give to others JUST BECAUSE. From events held sat the Marlboro, Moose, to the Elks, to the VFW, to the Eagles. to individuals in need. They never falter - Another great human being is Bobby K of the Prospector as well as Sully from Sully's Pub. Let us not forget the countless volunteers who give of themselves to help in anyway they can....

Bob Keyes owner of the Prospector is ALWAYS involved in veery fundraiser there is in the Marlboro area. He could run for Mayor and win easily (if he wanted it), but he's more valuable to the community as he is. We love you Bob!!!

Alexis Krieger Dascoli is an entrepreneur, graphic designer, she makes her own jewelry, and also is recently launching her own clothing line and most importantly she's my sister. She is the most giving person that I know and she's always willing to help out when it comes to me, the community, and even charity work. She does a lot of designing for certain places in Marlboro. My sister Alexis is a caring, and patient creative person that would do almost anything to help someone out or even go out of her way to make others happy. She can customize anything for any of her customers without a question. I believe she makes a difference in our town because she's been trying to make a name for herself and put her business out there not to only help herself but to also help others. She designs beautiful wedding invitations for a lot of the now newly weds we gave here in Marlboro. Alexis also designs business cards, logos and pretty much anything creative that anyone can come up with and ask for her, she really has no limits when it comes to helping. I'm happy to say that I have such a caring successful sister to not only help other people but to also be such a great sibling. She definetly makes a big difference in my life, so I also hope people of our town think she makes a difference here for us also!

Definitely Alexis Krieger Dascoli, she is an inspiration to a lot of local residence especially to young women. On top of all the work that she does she is always willing to help out people in the community. I am taking part in the light the night walk for Leukemia & Lymphoma and Alexis was one of the first people to offer here help, not only did she donate an item to be raffled but she also offered help with whatever else I need help with. She definitely has my vote and support in everything that she does!!! Keep up the great work Alexis and Thank you!!
