TELL US: Did NStar, National Grid Perform Well During Hurricane Sandy?
The two utility companies have had complaints in recent storms—Hurricane Irene and Snowtober—but say they stepped it up for Sandy.
Hurricane Sandy blew out of the region earlier this week, but not without causing massive power outages, some of which have yet to be fixed.
Both National Grid and NStar say they did a better, faster job in fixing power outages than in previous storms, according to WBUR.
Not everyone agrees, however. According to the story, Newton Mayor Setti Warren said NStar was faster, but there's still work to be done. Gov. Deval Patrick also told WBUR the companies worked faster, but said a "total victory" can't be declared.
Do you agree? Have they improved since the last storm? Or is there still work to be done? Tell us in the comments.

Grid wanted to keep the state happy after last year and I think overall they did much better than last year's storm. Personally only lost power for an hour one time, so I was lucky.
I think when you look at the big picture, we had a huge storm and not a lot of people were out an extended time, we could be in NY or NJ folks. As long as there are lines above ground this is something we'll have to deal with. I think we're so spoiled in this day and age that it's easy to make a big deal out of a little outage. This week made me appreciate what we have!

I agree with Hawk's Mom. I'm counting my blessings. BUT I'm guessing she is not a Dover/Sherborn resident since she references National Grid. My NStar service in Dover was out for 50 hours. And I know people who are still out (although most of the town is back now). What really frosts me is that NStar must have spent a fortune clear cutting under the powerlines that cross through Sudbury, Needham and Dover. I want to be fair, but shouldn't some of those resources have gone toward more traditional maintenance? I confess I don't know why power usually does go out and if it's from trees falling on power lines, I know that can't be helped. I guess I just needed to vent (as I empty out my freezer).

Excellent job by National Grid in my Westborough neighborhood. Whatever they did to prepare (aggressive tree trimming, reenforced lines, extra crews, etc) the results were impressive considering the wind/rain we got with Sandy.

I think that nationalgrid did much better in this storm. I only lost power for one hr. and the last one it was out for a day and a half.

Zippity Do Dog on Speen St is still out and I was told they would be working on it this am. Well the sun has gone down and no power. I will call Friday and hope to be up and running Monday. After reading Tastings, maybe I won't be up Monday. A drag running a small business that is dependent on electricity.
