Readers Like the Celtic Tavern for Entertainment

The Celtic Tavern got top votes for the "best place for entertainment category."

Taking 39 percent of the vote, the Celtic Tavern in Northborough churned out the best response for "best place for entertainment" in the area.

Located on Route 9, the Celtic Tavern is a large bar accented by rich dark wood with a "Cheers" type feel that offers a big pub menu (with Irish specialties), plenty of big screen TVs, friendly bartenders and live bands every Friday and Saturday night.

Its lineup ranges from cover bands to tribute acts to blues to swing and rock.

There's plenty of room to dance, sit at a table or hang at the bar to listen to the music. Not only does the Celtic Tavern always book a solid act for its weekend rotation, it's a very comfortable place to see one. And there's a huge parking lot.

"The people is what makes the Celtic what it is," said manager Mike "Walshy" Walsh. "We give them a great product and in return they support our business. Am I surprised we won? I would love to say 'no not a surprise at all' but truthfully we all work very hard to create and build what we have. Surprised, yes. And very appreciative."
