Classmates gathered to paint "the rock" in memory of Scott C. Symonds following visiting hours at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday. Symonds, 38, of West Boylston and formerly of Marlborough, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 after attending his 20 year class reunion at Firefly's in Marlborough.

According to classmate Lynda Rivers, "A group of about 20 went over after visiting hours and painted the rock and had a candlelight moment of silence. All in all, people tried to be positive and the gathering was joyful while bittersweet."
