Marlborough Police Investigate Possible Voter Ballot Fraud

The Marlborough Police Department says there is something amiss with at least one absentee ballot application.

The issued a statement Wednesday afternoon saying that they are investigating a possible case of voter fraud in Tuesday's election. 

"On Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 Marlborough Police were notified that there was a question regarding an absentee ballot application that was dropped off at , said Captain Paul Valianti. "This application was determined not to be valid."

Valianti said that police are currently investigating the possibility that criminal charges will be filed in regards to the application, and will not release more details at this time due to the ongoing nature of the situation.

A call to the City Clerk's office confirmed the incident. 

"Because it is an ongoing police investigation at this time, I really can't say anything," said Principal Clerk of Elections Travis Mason. "Once something is determined, I can probably comment at that point."
