Marlborough Grad and Former Resident Killed in Crash After Attending Class Reunion
Scott Symonds was struck on highway 190 in Lancaster early Saturday morning.
Former Marlborough resident and Marlborough High School graduate was killed in an early a.m. accident Saturday on Route 190 north in Lancaster.
According to the Massachusetts State Police, Scott Symonds, 38, of West Boylston, struck a guardrail in a 2005 Toyota Camry while traveling in the vicinity of Exit 7 causing the vehicle to became disabled.
"Mr. Symonds exited his vehicle and was struck by a 2006 Ford pickup truck operated by Eric Sirert, 42, of Westminster," said Trooper Donald Gray in the report. "Mr. Symonds sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene."
As of early this week no charges had been levied against Sirert and the crash is still under investigation.
"The crash remains under investigation to determine if any charges are warranted. The investigation is being conducted by Troop C of the Massachusetts State Police, along with the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section," said a release from state police.
Police did not say whether or not alcohol was a factor with either driver.
Symonds had recently left Marlborough after attending his 20th high school reunion at Firefly's restaurant on Route 20, according to an individual who was at the gathering.
Visiting hours will be held in Marlborough Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc . A private burial will be held in Vermont. Following the visiting hours, friends and family will paint the rock on Route 85 (entering Hudson) in memorial.
