Man Charged with Assault to Murder
A local man was charged with assaulting a disabled person in an attempt to murder them.
A man has been held without bail after being charged with assault to murder after allegedly strangling and suffocating a disabled person.
Police have charged Joseph White, 47, of 6 Witherbee Ter. Apt. 6 with assaulting a disabled person following an incident at 3:22 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29. According to the police report by Marlborough Police Officer Paul McCarthy, White hit, choked, smothered and placed his full weight on the victim and stated "I want you to die."
The victim was bleeding from their mouth and nose when police arrived. They were transported to Marlborough Hospital.
"[The victim] stated that White had beat [them] up and smashed [their] cell phone while [they] attempted to call the police," wrote McCarthy whose report stated the victim said they almost passed out while being assaulted. "White only stopped when [the victim] grabbed and squeezed his penis and testicles."

The victim also said that White regularly uses alcohol and crack cocaine, according to the police report.
White has been charged with impeding an investigation through witness intimidation, assault and battery on a disabled person with injury and assault to murder.

There was one victim. The language was used in an attempt to protect the person's identity and not reveal their gender.
