Local Man is Accused of Child Rape, Witness Intimidation
An investigation that began at the end of March has yielded a serious arrest.
The Marlborough Police Department and the Middlesex District Attorney's office both released information Wednesday pertaining to the recent arrest of a Marlborough man on child rape charges.
Cleverson R. Matias, 30, of 159 West Main St., Apt. 3, was arrested just after 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at his home address, as a result of an investigation by the Marlborough Police Department that began at the end of March, said a representative of the DA's office.
Matias is accused of the statutory rape of a child, indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14, impeding an investigation through witness intimidation, and distribution of obscene matter to a minor.
He faced a judge in Middlesex Superior Court Wednesday and was released on $15,000 cash bail under the conditions that he had no contact with his alleged victim, no contact with anyone under 18 years of age, that he surrender his passport, that he wears a GPS tracking device, and he is only permitted to leave his home to work between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. in an environment that would not put him in contact with minors.
Matias is scheduled to return to court Thursday, May 17 for a pretrial hearing.
