Local Businesses and City Weather the Storm
Local businesses and the city of Marlborough weathered Hurricane Sandy with their heads high and doors (mostly) open.
While the city lay mostly silent Monday as schools, government buildings and even businesses shuttered their doors, everything is back and running in Marlborough.
Many restaurants shuttered their doors Monday, but the Main Street Cafe kept theirs open. When the power goes out and when the storm is bearing down on the city, people need a place to go for a warm meal, said owners Mary and Randy Scott.
City buildings weathered the storm well. There was a period of power loss in the West end of the city that affected one of the schools, but none were damaged by the storm, said Fire Chief James Fortin.
Some even found the storm to be an enjoyable time, including Abby King.
