@Markvital1: Here's the congresswoman's response to your question: Niki Tsongas: Thank you Paul, and thank you Marlborough resident for participating today. Andrew just linked to the statement I made after the Supreme Court decision upholding the Affordable Care Act’s constitutionality. You are absolutely right, the issue of the debt and deficit is a serious problem we have to address. One of the reasons I am such a strong supporter of the Affordable Care Act is because it was designed to help deal with the deficit. The Congressional Budget Office has said it would save $143 billion over 10 years. But also, as I have heard from many employers in the District, we also need to control the cost of care so that employers can redirect their investments to growing their business – adding new employees or increasing wages, making capital investments, investing in research and development. Controlling the cost of care is an important aspect of health care reform because of how important it is to the health of our broader economy.
