To the Editor:
On behalf of the City of Marlborough, I wish to extend my thanks and appreciation for the efforts of over 300 volunteers who spent Saturday, April 30, 2011, collecting trash from the streets, parks and neighborhoods throughout our city. This year’s Clean Sweep team collected 6.5 tons of trash. I am so proud of your efforts! We had a tremendous turnout. Together, we made a real difference in three hours!
I would like to recognize Raytheon, Dow Chemical and Metro Church for their coordination and staff participation. The City also extends its gratitude for the work of the many local clubs and organizations including the Boys and Girls Club, the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, garden clubs, French Hill Neighborhood Association, Fort Meadow Association, Green Marlborough, city staff and city councilors to name a few. Thanks also go to Price Chopper who provided the delicious refreshments, Mass Highway District 3 who provided the collection bags, and Republic Services who provided the dumpsters. We also wish to thank the residents who made a contribution by picking up in their own neighborhoods.
I am grateful for the Clean Sweep Committee and for the many volunteers whose helping hands helped beautify Marlborough. We can easily maintain the progress by properly disposing our trash and increasing our recycling efforts. We can all make a true difference in our community! Thank you for making Marlborough a cleaner and “Greener” city!
